Retention Program:

Foster parents receive community praise for taking children into their home. Those who take special needs children such as the developmentally delayed, physically challenged, medically fragile and/or drug and alcohol affected are true angels.  Some question the sanity and judgment of foster families who care for behaviorally challenged children; they question even further the sanity of those who accept children with sexual behavior problems and/or who are physically aggressive.

Yet these children, like the developmentally delayed or medically fragile, need a place to live and an environment that supports and encourages their growth.  Our program is designed to support the foster parents of children with sexualized and physically aggressive behaviors.  We will provide relevant written material, assist in developing a plan to deal with inappropriate sexual behavior, physically aggressive behaviors while maintaining safety for all in the home. 

We will also help the family connect with established resources and create our own. (i.e., developing a cooperative respite program, and activities for the family).  We are also developing a support group to discuss the unique issues these children’s behaviors present, to problem solve and to share experiences.
